Tractor crashes into Chester houses

A tractor pulling a large tanker has crashed into two homes in Chester this morning (April 1).

At around 6.36am the trailer crashed at the junction of Green Lane, Pearl Lane and Tarvin Road Cross.

Photos and videos shared on social media show the extent of the damage, with a huge amount of the walls at both properties knocked down.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "The A51 in Chester is currently closed in both directions following a collision at the junction of Pearl Lane.

"At 6.36am on Tuesday 1 April, police were called to reports of a collision on the A51 Vicars Cross Road, Chester.

"Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a tractor and a Mercedes.

"The tractor had also collided with two houses.

"There are no reports of any serious injuries, but the drivers of both vehicles have both been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precautionary measure.

"The occupants of the houses have all been accounted for, and are all safe and well."

The road is currently closed in both directions between Green Lane and the A41 and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

The closures are expected to remain in place for several hours.
