Police detonate 'explosive device' in local field

Yesterday afternoon (10 April) police were called out to a property on Boundary Lane, following reports of a potentially explosive device.

Upon arriving at the house, a device was discovered and an explosive ordnance disposal unit (EOD) was deployed.

With EOD in attendance, a controlled explosion was carried out in a field near Blacon police station.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "On Thursday 10 April, police attended a premises in Boundary Lane, Chester, in relation to the disposal of weaponry.

"A possible explosive device was discovered.

"Following attendance by EOD, a controlled explosion was carried out in an open area near Blacon Police Station, Blacon Avenue, as a precaution.

"A cordon was in place while the incident was dealt with."
