If you have ever seen a lone Tudor man wandering amongst Romans in Chester, you probably encountered the 'Tudor and Stuart Tour'.

Local group 'Live History' has been wandering Chester's streets for over three years. It is now gearing up to launch a brand new tour, described as strictly adults-only.

"Chester has a dark history, teeming with ghosts and grisly murders," said Live History founder Tom Hudson, who recently appeared on Amazon Prime's 'My Haunted Project'.

"You'll notice that tour guides tend to be very polite and approachable during the daytime, as it's their job to welcome visitors to a stunning historic city like Chester.

"The city also has some stories that you would not find on daytime tours as they are not very child-friendly."

Live History will unveil 'The Filthy Chester Tour' on September 1 2025.

Tom said: "Imagine a tour where people can let their hair down and swear in front of other customers without judgement.

"Hear about historical court cases that would make people blush, consider how certain lost buildings played host to disasters - or learn Shakespearean slang that will get you laid.

"This is a tour for those with a dark sense of humour, who relish uncomfortably taboo tales of a more 'adult nature' - grotesque, sexy and obscene language, complete with images of lost local buildings and a bag of naughty replicas."

The hour long tours can also be customised to cater to private tours for certain groups of people. As with Live History's other tours, there are accessibility-friendly routes available.

Although it will not be costumed, it will still feature items based upon historical replicas and imagery, to help customers imagine the Chester of the past, "as grim as it could be."

As part of the new tour's promotion, Live History will be previewing these tours in August at cheaper introductory rates for private groups.

To book privately, visitors are advised to visit the Live History website here.

Live History will be giving people the chance to win a free tour every week in August until the official public launch on 1 September 2025.
