A number of Chester residents have been evacuated from their homes after a tractor collided with two houses on Tuesday.

On 1 April at 6.36am, police were called to reports of a collision on the A51 Vicars Cross Road, near to the junction of Pearl Lane.

Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a tractor and a Mercedes.

The tractor had also collided with two houses.

There were no reports of any serious injuries, however a total of 16 residents have been evacuated from their homes.

The crash has left two properties at risk of further collapse. Plans for temporary supports for the buildings have now been produced.

Cheshire West and Chester Council confirmed that hotel accommodation has been provided for ten residents, with the remaining number staying with friends/relatives.

The council's housing and welfare teams are working with partners from the local NHS integrated care board, the Department for Work and Pensions, Citizens Advice Bureaux, British Red Cross and a range of local voluntary organisations to provide support to the evacuated residents.

A spokesperson for the council said: "All are being contacted and updated daily.

"A wide range of support is being provided following what has been a very traumatic few days for them with severe disruption to their lives."

Road closures remain in place following the incident, with the A51 closed between the A41 and Green Lane in Chester.

The road closure remains in place for the time being and is being reviewed.
