Storyhouse will host Chester Literature Festival for the 14th year in a row this May.

The first names have now been announced, along with the news that the festival will take place in spring from this year onwards.

Running from 21 May - 15 June, guests can expect poems, talks, interactive events, workshops, gigs, performances and much more.

General booking is now open, with events set to include appearances from Ruth Jones, Daisy Buchanan and Reverend Richard Coles.

It was launched in 1989 by the volunteer organisation, Chester Arts 89, and city booksellers who programmed a week of literary activity -including a reading by the niece of novelist D H Lawrence.

Chester Literature Festival is programmed by Storyhouse, taking place throughout the building and sometimes across the city.

This year's festival is supported by Aaron & Partners Solicitors, which has expressed its 'delight' to be sponsoring the annual event.

A spokesperson for the solicitors said: "The ability to understand language and use words effectively are essential skills for lawyers and it is our privilege to support Storyhouse in bringing some of the UK's best literary talent to Chester for this annual celebration of the written and spoken word."

Storyhouse said: "Words can appear in many different forms, and so our literature festival is never just one thing.

"Each year we celebrate all things written, spoken, sung and signed with a programme spanning right across different genres, formats and art forms.

"From classic book talks in the theatre, to poetry pub crawls out around town, there's plenty to explore across the festival when it takes over our building during the festival.

"During the festival, our home comes alive with the written and spoken word."
