A Belong care village is hosting an open day today (21 May) in Chester, as part of its Dementia Action Week programme.

This week (19 – 25 May) marks a national campaign raising awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.

To promote the campaign, Belong villages are holding dedicated open days for the public to visit for tours, meet the team and access information and specialist dementia support - at no cost.

At Belong Chester, attendees can join in with dementia-friendly activities taking place throughout the day - including, 'music through the ages' with a live vocalist.

The event runs until 4pm this afternoon and all are welcome to join.

Spearheaded by Alzheimer's' Society, the charity estimates 1 in 3 people currently living with dementia do not have a diagnosis.

However, 91% of those with a diagnosis agree it is beneficial to have one, giving them vital access to the care treatment and support they need.

You can find out more about Belong and the work it does here.
