A North Wales taxi firm which has grown from a start-up in 2019 to a fleet of more than 270 vehicles has now been serving Chester for almost two years.

Founded by Xristos Tsorvas, Mark Coates and Amanda Willetts, Cresta has grown from its North Wales beginnings to serve communities across Flintshire, North Wales and Chester.

Having opened its Chester office on Brook Street in January 2025, the company says the move into the city was a natural progression, with its local approach and level of service at the heart of the expansion.

"Chester was a natural expansion for us," a spokesperson told Chester Nub News.

"We felt in terms of Chester, we want to bring the same energy, the same level of service and the same professionalism to Chester as we have done to North Wales."

Cresta is locally owned and operated, with its Chester base next to the city's railway station.

While customers can book through the Cresta app, the company says people still regularly visit its office to speak to staff directly and arrange journeys.

"A lot of our customers still come into the base, book their taxis, and it's always nice of them, rather than just via app, that they've got a friendly face that they can talk to," the spokesperson said.

The company operates more than 270 vehicles, including 16-seaters, accessible vehicles, executive cars and electric vehicles. It has recently added new Teslas to the fleet as it looks to increase the number of electric vehicles it operates.

The size of the fleet means Cresta can offer a 24-hour service, while local knowledge is also an important part of its approach to recruiting drivers.

The company aims to employ drivers from Chester and North Wales, with drivers undergoing background checks and customer-service training.

Cresta says that local knowledge is particularly useful for visitors to the city, with drivers able to offer recommendations on local cafés, restaurants and other places to visit.

However, the company's involvement in Chester goes beyond providing taxi services.

Cresta has supported Chester Students' Union, including its awards, Chester Pride and local sporting and community events. Most recently, the company sponsored a bike race which started at Chester Rugby Club.

One of the main ways it supports local causes is through Cresta Cares, an initiative which sees 5p from every booking made through the Cresta Cars app donated to a selected local charity or good cause.

Every app booking contributes 5p to the initiative, meaning customers can support a local cause simply by choosing Cresta for journeys they would already be making.

Cresta Cares has already generated a £663 donation to Rupert's Rainbow, with the money raised through customers using the Cresta app.

The company says the scheme is intended to make supporting local causes part of its everyday operation, with individual contributions from thousands of journeys adding up over time.

"We pride ourselves on being local. We champion the local community," the spokesperson said.

Cresta provides local taxi services, airport transfers, executive travel, minibuses and accessible vehicles across Chester, Flintshire and the surrounding areas.

It says supporting the communities where its customers and drivers live remains an important part of its continued growth.
