Belong Chester unveils intergenerational duck race design
By Dherran Titherington 24th Apr 2026
A local dementia specialist is entering this year's Chester Duck Race with a design inspired by Global Intergenerational Week.
Belong Chester's duck, named Ali, is honouring national charity Alzheimer's Society and features hand-painted blue myosotis - better known as forget-me-nots, a symbol of dementia awareness.
Perched on Ali's back is half-duckling, half-bee, DuckBy, a creation inspired by Belong's B's Café.
The monthly memory café welcomes the community for complimentary refreshments, conversation, and access to its Admiral Nurse service, supporting families living with dementia.
In celebration of Global Intergenerational Week (24–30 April), the duck's design is the result of a collaboration between Belong Chester customers and children from the Ready Generations Nursery, which is based within the home.
Together, they brainstormed ideas before bringing them to life in the home's creative studio.
"With Global Intergenerational Week falling on the Duck Race weekend this year, it made for the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together to build our entry," said Dyan Crimes, intergenerational experience coordinator at Belong Chester.
"Our customers love sharing their home with the children and we find many take every opportunity they can to spend time with their young friends, impart their wisdom, and support their development. It's wonderful to see."
