Chester Makers Market - Saturday 5 September - Exchange Square & Town Hall Square

Chester's Maker Market returns this Saturday with a wide range of independent bakers, creators and artisan producers.

Taking place from 10am to 4pm, the market will be held across Exchange Square and Town Hall Square.

Visitors can browse a range of stalls from artisan makers, bakers, food producers and independent traders, alongside street food and live music throughout the day.

The market is family and dog friendly, with organisers encouraging visitors to shop local and support independent businesses.

Cheshire Fashion Week - Saturday 5 September - Chester Cathedral

Cheshire Fashion Week returns to Chester this weekend, with MANGO opening the runway ahead of its new Chester store.

Taking place on Saturday 5 September, Chester Cathedral will host the event, featuring designers from the UK, USA, Ireland, Portugal and Nigeria.

Other attendees include Unblemished by Cherice, Original Ireland, ILZA, Mihaela Dowman, Pearl-Marie Creations, Liam Brandon Murray, Exclusively by Michael Adam, Angel Cuomo and Andrea Harrison Designs.

Ahead of the launch of its new Chester store, MANGO will use its opening runway to highlight its fresh sustainability strategy.

Cheshire's ancient past is being brought to life in a new exhibition at Chester's Grosvenor Museum

Cheshire's ancient past is being brought to life in a new exhibition at Chester's Grosvenor Museum.

Running until Sunday 20 September, the exhibition explores the region's geological history, from prehistoric jungles and deep oceans to the landscapes we know today.

Visitors can discover fossils from the museum's collection, including Carboniferous plant remains from Wrexham, marine microfossils from Saltney and reptile footprints found on the Wirral.

Entry is free, with donations welcome.

Nell Gwynn - Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre - Until Sunday 6 September

'Nell Gwynn' follows the true story of one of Britain's first and most famous actresses (Image: Storyhouse)

Nell Gwynn is now showing at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, staged in partnership with Shakespeare North Playhouse and Theatre by the Lake.

Set in London in 1660, the production follows Nell Gwynn from her beginnings as an orange-seller to her rise to fame at the court of Charles II.

Written by Jessica Swale and directed by Bryony Shanahan, the production combines music, comedy and drama to tell the story of one of Britain's first actresses.

The production runs until Sunday 6 September. The festival site also features a tepee bar and an expanded food and drink offering, including craft beers and frozen cocktails.
