Council launches 'Tarvin Traveller' pilot scheme
By Dherran Titherington 10th Mar 2026
A new bus ticket connecting Tarvin and Chester will launch this weekend in a bid to make local public transport cheaper and more flexible.
The 'Tarvin Traveller' is a multi-operator ticket that allows passengers to travel on both Stagecoach and D&G bus services (routes 82 and 84) between any bus stop from Tarvin to Chester Bus Interchange.
Launching this Sunday (15 March), bus users travelling between Tarvin and Chester can use their 'Tarvin Traveller' bus ticket on any Stagecoach or D&G bus.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for people to choose the bus," said Cheshire West and Chester Council's deputy leader, Cllr Karen Shore.
"This pilot will help us understand how flexible, integrated tickets can support residents, encourage bus use and reduce congestion and carbon emissions.
"We will closely track the service's progress so we can investigate potential roll-out across the borough."
Part of a one-year pilot funded by the UK Government, the scheme is aimed at making bus travel easier, more affordable, and attractive as a regular travel choice.
For an adult 'Tarvin Traveller' ticket, pricing is set at £4 for one day and £12 for the week. For those under 19, a day ticket is priced at £3 and a weekly rate is £9.
With a new paper ticket, the scheme removes the need for multiple purchases for separate services - making journeys more flexible, and reducing uncertainty at the bus stop.
The Tarvin Traveller is available on Service 82 and 84 from 15 March, forming a key part of the council's wider Bus Service Improvement Plan Delivery to improve and simplify public transport across the borough.
