Open mic night - Thursday 16 April - The Deva Tap

Whether you're keen to perform or simply enjoy an evening of live music, the event promises a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Food will be served until 8:30pm, alongside a wide selection of specialist beers from independent breweries.
Budding musicians are encouraged to get involved, with a free drink offered to every performer. The venue will also provide professional sound equipment, including amps, speakers and microphones.

Book launch – Saturday 18 April – Books on the Walls

Books on the Walls will host a special book launch event for Siân Hughes' latest novel No Such Thing As Monday this Saturday, from 2pm to 3pm.
The event offers readers the chance to discover Hughes' powerful new work, which follows Steffie, a young woman grappling with guilt, fractured memories and a troubled past. Set against the backdrop of her life working in a dry-cleaners, the novel explores themes of trauma and resilience with striking honesty.
Hughes, who grew up in a small village in Cheshire, has received widespread acclaim for her writing. Her debut poetry collection The Missing earned multiple award nominations and won the Seamus Heaney Award, while her first novel Pearl was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2023.

'Come From Away' – Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 April – Storyhouse

Storyhouse will host Tip Top Productions' staging of the acclaimed musical Come From Away this weekend.
Based on the true events of September 11 2001, the Tony and Olivier Award-winning show tells the remarkable story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, welcomed thousands of stranded airline passengers when 38 planes were diverted to its airstrip.
This production marks one of the first times the hit musical has been staged by a UK community theatre company. Described as "deeply moving and uplifting" by North West End UK, the show has received glowing reviews, with audiences reportedly on their feet before the final notes.

Foamtastic Colourblast – Sunday 19 April – Chester Racecourse

Chester Racecourse will host 'Foamtastic Colourblast' this Sunday, a colourful fundraising event in support of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
The family-friendly 5km-style event invites participants of all ages to walk, jog, dance or run their way around the course, with colour powder and foam stations along the route.
Designed as a fun, non-competitive day out, it focuses on community spirit and raising funds for the hospice, with participants encouraged to gather sponsorship for the cause.

Big Fat Quiz On The Roof - Rooftop Social Club - Sunday 19 April

Rooftop Social Club hosts 'The Big Fat Quiz on the Roof ' every Sunday evening, offering teams the chance to test their general knowledge in a lively setting.
Across a series of rounds, participants can compete for a range of prizes while enjoying food and drinks from the rooftop venue.
Prizes on offer include a cash first prize, along with bar tabs, pizza and bottles of Prosecco.
