Road closures in place for Chester’s Chinese New Year festival
A number of road closures are in place for the Chinese New Year celebration this weekend in Chester.
From 10:30am to 12:15pm on Saturday 1 February, Northgate Street, St Werburgh Street, Eastgate Street, Foregate Street and St John Street will be affected by road closures.
A temporary traffic notice has been put in place.
"The effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic as identified in Chester because of the likelihood of danger to the public for the Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday 1 February 2025," it said.
"The order will come into force on Saturday 1 February 2025, with the following lengths of road to be closed from 10:30 to 12:15 as detailed below.
"Pedestrian access to premises situated on or adjacent to the roads will be maintained at all times."
Emergency service vehicles will still be able to access the roads.
Roads to be closed include, Northgate Street (from Princess Street to Eastgate Street), St Werburgh Street (entire length), Eastgate Street (from Northgate Street to Foregate Street), Foregate Street (from Eastgate Street to St John Street) and St John Street (from Foregate Street to Little St John Street).
