A wide range of free activities will take place in Chester this summer as part of the Chester Festival of Ideas.
Organised by the University of Chester with a range of partner organisations, the festival returns for its third year from Thursday July 2 to Sunday July 5.
This year's edition features its biggest-ever line-up, with more than 100 free events taking place at venues across the city.
From science shows to hands-on history sessions, the four-day programme is packed with events and entertainment for all ages, with plenty specifically aimed at children and families.
Headline events include appearances by Greg Jenner, best known for his work as historical consultant on the award-winning BBC series Horrible Histories.
Other highlights include The Psychology Behind The Traitors, a talk exploring the psychology behind the hit TV series The Traitors and Celebrity Traitors. The event takes place on Thursday July 2.
On Friday July 3, the Royal Institution science show will bring live experiments, including fire and rockets, to audiences in a special session aimed at secondary school-aged children.
On Saturday July 4, the Wild Futures drop-in afternoon will offer activities for all ages, inviting visitors to get creative and share experiences of animals that are important to them and their families.
The festival will conclude on Sunday July 5 with eco-art activities and food-based workshops, bringing the four-day programme to a creative close.
Director of Chester Festival of Ideas, Katherine Wilson, said: "Whether you're inspired by science, art or history, you're passionate about the environment, food, books, TV or technology, we've worked to create a festival with something for all ages and interests. We hope to see you there."
All events are free to attend and walk-ins are welcome, however visitors are encouraged to book online here.
