Barriers remain in place outside White Stuff on St Werburgh Street as engineers investigate uneven paving slabs.

The issue was initially suspected to be caused by a water leak, with the area made safe and referred to Severn Trent Water for inspection.

However, following a site visit, the utility company confirmed that no leak was found on its network and reported this back to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

A council spokesperson said that while no evidence of a water leak has been identified, further issues have been reported and council engineers will now carry out additional investigations.

They said:"Following a visit by Severn Trent there was no evidence of a water leak, but further issues have been reported that the Council's engineers will now investigate."

The section of pavement remains cordoned off as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Severn Trent said: "Our teams visited St Werburgh Street yesterday and did not find a leak on our network, we have reported this back to the council."
