Council-backed event to address youth violence in Chester
By Dherran Titherington 20th May 2026
An event aimed at tackling youth violence will take place at Storyhouse next week.
Led by Cheshire West and Chester Council's Youth Service, the free event, titled 'Fighting for Change', will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about local initiatives working to reduce harm and support young people.
The event will be held at Storyhouse on Wednesday 27 May, from 10am to 4pm.
Funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner, the event is free to attend, with all members of the community encouraged to take part.
Celebrating the successful rollout of the programme across Chester, Northwich and Winsford, the event will bring together a range of partner agencies to raise awareness of youth violence, explore its impact, and discuss practical ways communities can respond collectively.
Visitors can expect interactive workshops led by organisations working in the sector, alongside market stalls showcasing local support services. There will also be opportunities to connect with professionals, community groups and young people involved in the initiative.
Organisers say the event aims to encourage open conversations around youth violence, while highlighting preventative approaches that empower individuals and communities to make a positive difference.
Amanda Perraton, the council's executive director for Children and Families, said: "Fighting for Change is about bringing people together to better understand the challenges facing young people and to explore how we can all play a role in creating safer environments.
"By working collaboratively, we can strengthen communities and support young people to thrive."
