A University of Chester student will be taking part in a night-time climb later this year, to help a charity that's close to his heart.
Final-year student Harry Illingworth will be undertaking a night-time climb of Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) on August 1 to raise funds for Myeloma UK, a charity funding vital research and supporting people affected by myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
Harry's motivation for the challenge is personal, with his brother Jack diagnosed with smouldering myeloma.
The nursing student hopes his fundraising will help support research and provide guidance and support for people living with myeloma.
A lover of the outdoors and an avid hiker, Harry is using his passion for the beautiful Welsh countryside to take on this challenging overnight climb.
"This challenge isn't just about the climb; it's about hope, resilience and making a positive impact for others," he added.
The 1,085-metre climb is being organised by Global Adventure Challenges, which sees participants use their torches to light the way with the moon as the backdrop, timed to see the sunrise across Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park during their descent, reaching the finish line in Llanberis for breakfast.
Mike Davies, Harry's personal academic tutor at the university, said: "I'm really very proud of what Harry is setting out to achieve.
"He has always been a hardworking student who practices with compassion, empathy and continually puts others first. I wish him the best of luck and hope he goes on to not only meet his fundraising goal but exceed it as it's for an incredibly good cause."
Funds raised will support Myeloma UK's work, including providing specialist nurses, helpline support, reliable information, and guidance and support for people living with myeloma.
