Pupils at a Chester city centre school recently celebrated World Book Day with a day of reading and a special visit from their local MP.
Grosvenor Park CofE Academy welcomed Samantha Dixon, Labour MP for Chester North and Neston, who visited the academy's library to read with pupils as part of the National Year of Reading.
During her visit, she spent time sharing stories and talking to children about the importance of reading.
To mark World Book Day, pupils and staff arrived at school dressed in a fantastic array of costumes inspired by the popular 'Little People, BIG DREAMS' book series.
The school was filled with famous figures brought to life by the children, including Usain Bolt, Coco Chanel, David Bowie and Audrey Hepburn.
"World Book Day is always a highlight of the school year and it was wonderful to see our pupils so inspired by the Little People, BIG DREAMS stories," said Mrs Karen Rogers, headteacher at Grosvenor Park CofE Academy.

"Having our local MP join us to read with the children made the day even more special, and our trip into the city to choose and enjoy new books was a fantastic way to celebrate reading together."
The celebrations continued beyond the classroom as pupils took part in a special reading trip through the city.
Children walked through Chester city centre to visit Waterstones, where they were able to spend their World Book Day vouchers choosing brand-new books to enjoy. After selecting their books, the pupils then visited the library at Storyhouse, where they spent time reading their new stories together.
Grosvenor Park CofE Academy is part of North West Academies Trust, which is committed to creating rich learning experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading.
