Chester's newest independent bookshop and wine bar is set to open early next year.

Following months of delays, co-owners Megan Nicolaides and Megan Yapp have now secured a location for Chapters, an independent bookshop and wine bar.

Its exact city centre location is still yet to be revealed, with updates soon to follow.

In April this year, Chester Nub News first reported the duo's plans to launch the business. However, the site soon fell through and the initial spring opening date was postponed whilst the team searched for more premises in Chester.

Describing their 'relief' after officially confirming the site, they told Nub News: "Getting the keys felt surreal - such a mix of relief and excitement.

"We're so happy to finally have a home in Chester and the support we've had already has made this moment even more special.

"We're now cracking on with the fit-out and aiming to open in early 2026. And of course we'll share all the ups and downs as we bring Chapters to life."

Both women bring years of experience within accountancy and marketing to the project - with co-founder Megan Yapp running her own accountancy business on the Wirral.

As long-time best friends, the two co-founders had always dreamed opening their own bookshop.

"We've always just loved books; I guess it's kind of something that has been brewing forever," Nicolaides told Chester Nub News earlier this year.

Influenced by a desire to create a spot they would personally choose to spend their time and money, they said: "When you go to a bookshop, there's this gorgeous magical feeling that you get and I guess the bar creates a reason to stay longer.

"I mean, why wouldn't you have a bar in a bookshop."

As introverts, the 36-year-olds wanted to create a space for people like themselves, whilst producing a sense of community and comfort.

Nicolaides added: "We wanted to create a place for people like us. "I think it takes a brave person to go to a bar on their own, but hopefully this can be a place where it just doesn't feel intimidating and it feels really relaxing and homey."
