The Grosvenor Museum will host a lecture about folklore, fantasy and history next month.

Chester will welcome Adrian Sumner for a talk titled 'The Art of Scotland, Ireland & Wales: tale of Celtic Interlace, Sacred Places & Early Christian Art'.

Having lectured at universities, cruise ships and led study tours with groups to many European destinations - Adrian will share images of the inspired art, architecture and sculpture of all three countries.

He will also discuss the influence of the Vikings, the Pan-European Celtic culture, the rise of Early Christianity, the Church of Rome and how the English survived all of it.

The event will run from 2pm to 3.15pm on Saturday 12 July and is in support of the Cheshire West Voluntary Arts Network.

Councillor Lisa Denson said: "Adrian's knowledge of art and the history of art always captivates his audience.

"All proceeds from this lecture go to the Cheshire West Voluntary Arts Network, who support, promote and advocate for Voluntary Arts organisations and their activities in west Cheshire."

Tickets are priced at £6 (refreshments included) and can be found here.
