Couples in Chester are being invited to share the stories behind their proposals for the chance to win wedding jewellery worth up to £1,000.

Family-owned jeweller Beaverbrooks, which has a branch on Eastgate Street, has launched a nationwide competition asking couples to share where they got engaged.

The competition coincides with the launch of Beaverbrooks' Proposal Map of the UK, which ranks 15 locations using Instagram hashtag data.

The Lake District topped the list with 4.7 million hashtags, followed by the London Eye with 3.5 million and Tower Bridge with three million. The Peak District and Isle of Skye completed the top five.

Beaverbrooks Chester branch manager Samantha Taylor said the competition was about celebrating the personal stories behind proposals.

She said: "A proposal is one of life's most important milestones, and finding the perfect setting can make the moment even more memorable.

"We also know that every proposal is unique, and the most meaningful locations are often those with a personal connection.

"That's why we're also inviting Chester couples to share the story behind where they got engaged for the chance to win their wedding jewellery from Beaverbrooks.

"It's our way of celebrating not only the proposal itself but also helping one lucky couple with the next exciting step on their journey to marriage."

Couples can enter by sharing the story of where they got engaged through Beaverbrooks' competition page before Friday 25 September. The winner will receive wedding jewellery from Beaverbrooks worth up to £1,000.
