200 Degrees offers free coffee exchange on Bridge Street
By Dherran Titherington 4th Jun 2026
A coffee shop on Bridge Street is giving away free coffee beans or pods this month.
From Monday 8 to Sunday 21 June, Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees is offering a free bag of beans, or a ten pack of pods, in exchange for for unwanted coffee products
As part of 'Operation Better Brews', Chester customers can swap any disappointing coffee, from stale tins to underwhelming bags that have been in the cupboard too long.
200 Degrees will be giving away their signature Brazilian Love Affair blend, expertly crafted for a bold flavour with notes of chocolate, hazelnut and caramel.
The initiative follows new research from the coffee roaster, which found that 8 in 10 Brits regularly drink coffee they don't actually enjoy, with the average person wasting £85 a year on coffee they dislike.
Alex Slater, Senior Head Barista and Drinks Development Lead at 200 Degrees, described the incentive as a "fun way" of showing the public that "there's a better option out there".
He said: "We thought the research would throw up something interesting, but the scale of it is mad, with just how many people are putting up with bad coffee every day.
"We care a lot about getting coffee right, from sourcing beans from across the world and roasting them in house, to ensuring quality in every cup we serve in-shop and every bag of beans we sell for home brewing.
"So if yours isn't up to scratch, bring it in and we'll swap it for something better."
Any unopened and sealed coffee products collected through the campaign will be donated to food banks. For hygiene and food safety reasons, any opened coffee products will be responsibly disposed of.
'Operation Better Brews' runs from Monday 8 to Sunday 21 June at 200 Degrees Chester, 31 Bridge Street, Chester.
