The Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Razia Daniels, attended Grosvenor Park school's VE Day street party yesterday (Thursday 8 May).

Grosvenor Park Church of England Academy marked the special occasion with a vibrant VE Day street party in the heart of Chester city centre.

Pupils, staff, and guests gathered outside the school for a celebratory lunch, styled in true 1940s spirit.

The day featured live music, dancing and a moving performance of wartime songs by the school choir.

Together with students and staff, guests enjoyed singing, dancing, and sharing memories of wartime Britain.

Later that evening, headteacher Mrs Karen Rodgers represented the academy at the official VE Day Civic Ceremony at Chester Cathedral, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe.

Karen Rodgers said: "We are so proud of how our school community came together to mark this important occasion.

"It was a joyful day of learning, remembrance, and connection across generations."
