A miniature version of one of Chester's most historic schools has been added to the LEGO display at Chester Market.

The intricate LEGO model of Grosvenor Park C of E Academy was created by local resident Richard Trotter, who is well known for his popular Twitter account celebrating Chester's history and landmarks.

Over the past ten years, Trotter has meticulously recreated the city in LEGO - including famed sites such as the Eastgate Clock, the Roman Amphitheatre and Chester Racecourse.

Grosvenor Park Academy has become the only school to be included in the display — a proud moment for pupils, staff and the wider school community.

"We're absolutely thrilled that our school has been recreated in LEGO," said headteacher Karen Rodgers.

"Richard's ingenuity has brought our school to life in a whole new way.

"The children are bursting with excitement to see the model up close at Chester Market."

Richard Trotter added: "I really enjoyed working on this project and getting to meet some of the staff and pupils of the school.

"I hope it will bring a lot of joy to visitors to the display."

Situated in the heart of Chester city centre, the Grosvenor Park Academy building has a rich history.

Originally opened in 1909 as Love Street School, it has served a variety of educational purposes over the past century.

In the late 1970s, the building was converted to office space and returned to its educational roots in 2015.

Three years later, the school joined North West Academies Trust and was renamed Grosvenor Park C of E Academy.

It has since undergone more than £1 million worth of investment and is known for its warm, nurturing environment - placing Christian values at the heart of its ethos.
