Staff and pupils at Grosvenor Park C of E Academy recently celebrated World Book Day.

On 6 March, the Chester school was filled with an array of imaginative costumes, such as Oompa Loompas, Harry Potter, Mr Bean and Mary Poppins.

The day began with a special assembly led by headteacher, Mrs Karen Rogers, who read the school's book of the week, 'Mixed' by Arree Chung.

The children also visited Waterstones in the city centre, where they had the opportunity to use their World Book Day £1 book tokens.

These tokens allowed them to choose a book to take home, ensuring that every child could enjoy a new story without any cost.

A spokesperson for the trust said: "It was wonderful to see the excitement on their faces as they selected their books, fostering a love of reading that will last a lifetime.

"World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the magic of books and storytelling, and today was no exception.

"A huge thank you to everyone who participated, from our amazing staff to our enthusiastic pupils.

"Your creativity and love for reading made the day truly special and we can't wait to do it all again next year."
