Our Motors Partner at BYD Chester is delighted to welcome the all-new Atto 3 EVO as this week's Car of the Week.

With electric cars becoming increasingly common sight on Chester roads, this week's Car of the Week highlights one of the most talked-about newcomers in the sector.

As a comprehensively updated version of BYD's popular Atto 3, the EVO brings longer range, faster charging and noticeably improved performance.

Inside, highlights include a minimalist dashboard and a large central touchscreen. Practicality has also been improved, with a larger 490litre boot and additional front storage, making it easier to handle everything from weekly shopping to weekends away.

Local road test: Made for Chester driving

On Chester's mix of historic streets, ring roads and nearby A-roads, the Atto 3 EVO feels immediately easy to live with. Low-speed driving is smooth and quiet - ideal for navigating the city centre - while light steering and good visibility take the stress out of tight junctions and parking.

Heading out towards faster roads, the electric motor delivers strong, instant acceleration, making it effortless to join traffic or overtake when needed. The revised suspension and improved chassis tuning mean the EVO feels more settled than the previous model, especially over uneven road surfaces. Heading towards the M56, the cabin remains impressively calm, helping longer journeys feel relaxed and refined.

Pricing and trim options

The BYD Atto 3 EVO starts from £38,990 OTR and is available in two trim levels:

  • Design - The entrylevel model features rearwheel drive, a large central touchscreen with builtin Google services, a 360degree camera, heat pump, heated front seats, wireless phone charging and a WLTP range of up to 316 miles
  • Excellence - This version adds allwheel drive, significantly more performance, a headup display, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. Despite the extra power, it still offers an impressive official range

Both trims benefit from BYD's 800V architecture, allowing rapid charging from 10 to 80 per cent in around 25 minutes.

Drivers can find out more in Swansway's in depth review into the BYD Atto 3 EVO below or, experience it first-hand with a test drive at BYD Chester located opposite Chester FC.
