Lord Mayor to Celebrate Cheshire Day with Free Civic History Talk at Chester Town Hall
The Lord Mayor of Chester and the Chester Charter Trustees are delighted to mark Cheshire Day with a free civic history talk at the iconic Chester Town Hall on Monday 30 March 2026, offering residents and visitors the chance to explore the story of Cheshire's historic county town.
The special talk will take place from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, led by Chester Civic Team who will share insights into Chester's role as the County Town of Cheshire and the rich heritage of the Chester civic's history. After the talk guests are welcome to have a look around one of the city's most recognisable and architecturally significant buildings.
Attendance is free of charge, but booking for the 2pm history talk is required. Please reserve your place via Eventbrite. (link to follow shortly)
In addition to the talk, Chester Town Hall will be open to the public from 11:00am to 3:00pm, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the building's historic rooms, learn about its civic traditions, and appreciate its remarkable Victorian Gothic design.
The Lord Mayor said:
"Cheshire Day is a wonderful moment to celebrate the history, identity, and shared pride of our county. Chester has stood at the heart of Cheshire for centuries, and I am delighted to welcome residents and visitors into our Town Hall to learn more about its story and significance and the City's civic history.
