Tributes pour in for much-loved Chester man Bob Mason ahead of his funeral
Tributes have been paid to Chester man Robert "Bob" Mason, whose family are inviting those who knew him to join them in celebrating his life at his funeral later this week.
Bob sadly passed away peacefully at the Countess of Chester Hospital on Sunday 14 June, aged 74.
A lifelong football fan, Bob was a passionate supporter of Chester City and spent many years sharing his love of the game as a coach at Blacon Youth Football Club.
He was known by many as a friendly and caring figure, building lasting friendships across Chester and beyond. Bob was also a regular visitor to Rhyl, where he became a familiar and much-loved face among the local community.
An advocate for disabled rights, Bob continued to live life to the full while managing bowel cancer, making the most of his independence with the help of his mobility scooter.
He was a much-loved uncle to Matthew, Stacey, Kelly, Gary and Andrew, and great uncle to Azalea, Keeva, Euan, Tylan and Cayden. He was also uncle to the late Mark.
Bob's family said he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, including his many friends, as well as his beloved cat Percy, who he adored.
Those who knew Bob, including friends he made during his time in Rhyl, are being encouraged to attend his funeral service at Chester Crematorium on Friday 17 July, at 3.20pm.
Following the service, a wake will be held at Chester Football Club's Deva Stadium, where friends and family can come together to share memories and celebrate Bob's life.
