A driver was taken to hospital yesterday evening (27 May) following a crash in Chester.

The collision, which involved a car and a HGV, occurred on Whitchurch Road just before 4.15pm.

Both drivers were able to remove themselves from the vehicles before emergency services arrived.

In response, two fire engines from Chester attended the scene, and the driver of the car was taken to hospital.

Firefighters also put a drain dam in place upon arriving at the crash site, to prevent the oil and fuel that was leaking from one vehicle from entering the drains.

Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 4.15pm on Tuesday 27 May, police were made aware of a collision on Whitchurch Road, Chester.

"The collision involved two vehicles, a car and a HGV. The driver of the car was taken to hospital."

Cheshire Police has not provided further information on injuries at this time.
