An 'upmarket' restaurant and bar is the next venue set to arrive at Chester's Northgate site.

In March last year, Popina submitted a premises licence application for the vacant unit next to Picturehouse Cinema.

In the licensing application submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council last year, the new venture seeks to provide a "chilled out" venue, serving cocktails and small plates.

It described the new venue as a "upmarket wine/cocktail bar", serving charcuterie and small plates in "Mediterranean décor".

Plans reveal "chilled out" music will play throughout the venue, with a live DJ providing similar music on a Friday and Saturday "to create a chilled out ambience."
