An appeal has been launched following a high-speed car chase from Chester to the M56.
At around 4.50pm on Monday 26 October, officers received reports of a hit and run in the St Oswalds Way area of Chester city centre, involving a white BMW 3 Series.
At 4.53pm, reports stated the same BMW appeared to be involved in a pursuit with a black Mercedes along Hoole Road, Chester.
Over the next 15 minutes, several other calls were received by members of the public, reporting that the two vehicles had been seen driving at excess speeds on M56.
It was also reported that the Mercedes still had its boot open during the pursuit and was missing a tyre.
At around 5.08pm, a further call revealed both vehicles were parked on the hard shoulder of the M56 eastbound, close to junction 11. Two men were seen exiting the Mercedes, before fleeing the scene on foot into a wooded area at the side of the carriageway.
The BMW, which had left the scene prior to officers attending, was later located in Warrington.
Following the incident, officers arrested a 19-year-old man and 62-year-old man from Chester on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
A 35-year-old man from Stalybridge, Manchester, was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
They have all been released on unconditional bail.
As part of ongoing enquiries into the incident, officers are now appealing to anyone with any relevant information or dashcam video footage to contact them.
Police Constable Tyson Darlington, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said: "We have been conducting a number of enquiries to fully establish the circumstances surrounding what has happened and who is involved.
"As part of this, we are now appealing to anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles as they made their way out of Chester and on to the M56 to get in touch.
"We would also like to ask anyone who may have been driving in the city centre, on St Oswalds Way, Hoole Road or on the M56, and may have captured either of the vehicles on any dash camera video footage, to also get in touch."
Anyone with any information or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Police via 101, or on the website, quoting incident reference number 26000879017.
