Chester theatre company set to stage brand new comedy
A Chester-based theatre company is set to premiere a brand-new play written by a local playwright.
Theatre company, Against The Grain, will stage the Mark Newman's newest play, 'Frank'.
It is set to premiere at St Mary's Creative Space in Chester, from Tuesday 18 March to Saturday 22 March at 7.30pm.
'Frank' is Newman's latest play, and has been described as 'bonkers, brilliant, and hilarious'.
Most recently, he co-wrote 'Curtains' with long-time collaborator, actor and director, Stuart Evans.
Staged by Against The Grain, the play received its premiere at St Mary's Creative Space last year.
Mark Newman said: "We're really looking forward to bringing 'Frank' to the stage.
"When I started writing it, I was determined to make sure it would be as entertaining and funny as possible, and I think the audience should have an absolute blast.
"The play itself centers around an older and younger couple who are neighbours.
"The younger couple go away for a few days and ask the older couple to house-sit for them, which starts a whole chain of increasingly riotous events.
"We're also working with a new Director too, Lisa Miller, who we've been delighted to welcome into the Against the Grain fold."
The play tells the story of recently retired Eric who spends his days at home with his wife, Val, spying on his neighbours, and 'generally sticking his nose in where it's not wanted'.
As the play develops, Eric and Val receive a visit from old friend, Jack, and are also asked by their younger neighbours, Olly and Lou, to house-sit for them while they are away.
Then things take a turn for the unexpected, rapidly spiraling out of control with frequently hysterical consequences.
'Frank' will be directed for Against The Grain by Lisa Miller.
