A Chester city centre venue is preparing for a new chapter under fresh ownership, with plans to reshape its entertainment offering.

The Guild has changed hands after six years under its previous owners, with a new team led by hospitality figure Steve Davies aiming to expand its events programme and make improvements to the venue.

Plans for The Watergate Street bar include a refreshed entertainment programme - including a range of new DJs and events - venue enhancements and an expanded drinks offering.

The new ownership team includes Davies, who has been involved with a number of Chester hospitality venues including Popcorn, Commonhall, Plana Terra and The Flat Earth.

"We're aiming to carry on the legacy of the previous owners and bring the Guild forward," he said.

"From live bands and renowned DJs to community events and even the occasional vintage fair, we're looking to create a venue that offers something for everyone. Exciting things are on the horizon."

Chris Nixon, former managing director of TravelSupermarket and a key figure in the growth of FTSE-listed MoneySuperMarket, is also involved in the venture as an investor and partner.

He said: "While I bring experience from building and growing businesses, Steve brings the creativity, passion and hospitality expertise that will shape the character and experience of the venue.

"Together, we believe we have the right foundations to create something special for Chester."

Further announcements regarding events, partnerships and venue enhancements are expected in the coming months.
