Spotlight on Chester - Entries now open for Cheshire West Design Awards

Entries are now open for this year's Cheshire West Design Awards, with the ceremony set to take place in Chester Town Hall.
First held in 1979, the awards take place every five years and seek to award the very best design projects across the borough.
Nominations for new build, public realm, conservation and sustainable developments are now being welcomed, with judges seeking the best examples across the Cheshire West region.
Having already received over 50 nominations, the public can now vote for any new building, development or area constructed within the last five years until 15 July.
Chair of judges, Peter Hadfield said: "By rewarding the best architectural projects, this award scheme stimulates interest in our built environment and develops a deeper and broader appreciation of both traditional craft skills and high quality contemporary construction.
"The aim of these awards is to make Cheshire West and Chester a better place to live, work and visit by encouraging outstanding design and projects and gaining national recognition for this."
Reflecting a partnership between Cheshire West and Chester Council, Chester Civic Trust and the Cheshire Society of Architects, the five-yearly cycle of awards covers the whole borough.
Delayed in 2020 due to Covid-19, the event returns this year in an awards ceremony and dinner at Chester Town Hall in November.
