Cheshire College student secures competitive degree-apprenticeship

A Cheshire College student has been commended for securing a competitive degree-apprenticeship with Ringway Jacobs.
Currently studying economics, business, and politics, Sam Linde has been recognised for his determination and forward-thinking career ambitions.
Starting his career in project management this June, the 18-year-old was inspired by his experience in the college's honours programme—a tailored initiative designed for high-achieving students.
"If it wasn't for the honours scheme, I wouldn't have considered applying for apprenticeships," Sam said.
"It really opened my eyes to other opportunities."
The honours programme grants students access to industry networking events and application workshops, that help them stand out in a competitive landscape.
Sam's new role with Ringway Jacobs will see him combining full-time work with part-time study at Nottingham University - giving him the chance to gain valuable industry experience while earning a degree.
He said: "I want to get into my career as soon as I can, gain real-world experience and start earning while I learn.
"Eventually, I'd love to move into programme management—my dad's been a big influence on that ambition."
Offering advice to future students, Sam added: "Work hard and build habits your future self will thank you for.
"Imagine your life as if it were being broadcast—would you be proud of what others see?
"That mindset helped shape who I've become."
Ruth Szolkowska said: "Sam is a fantastic example of what's possible when students make the most of the opportunities available to them.
"We're incredibly proud and excited to see where this next chapter takes him."
