A Cheshire College apprentice has been named the most improved apprentice of the year for Merseyside and the North Wales area, by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Harry Grant has been commended for his technical skills, exceptional commitment to professional development and leadership within the engineering community.

As an apprentice at Bentley Motors, he demonstrated perseverance throughout his apprenticeship, earning recognition for his contributions.

The award honours individuals who excel in technical proficiency and contribute positively to their workplace and the wider community.

It also acknowledges apprentices who display leadership, a commitment to professional growth, and a passion for innovation in engineering.

Harry said: "I want to thank my tutors John Fifer and Dan Evans for all their support during my HNC and Leslie Sinclair for his support as my assessor.

"It's nice to see the hard work I put in to complete the apprenticeship being recognised."

Helen Nellist, deputy CEO of Cheshire College, said: "Harry's achievement highlights the incredible potential of apprenticeships as a pathway to success.

"It's a remarkable recognition of Harry's dedication and growth, and reflects the high standards apprentices are setting in the engineering industry."

Harry's apprenticeship assessor, Leslie Sinclair, said: "Harry has done tremendously well in winning the overall award.

"It is a superb achievement."

IMechE, a leading global institution with over 115,000 members, plays a vital role in advancing engineering excellence and supporting the development of professionals committed to solving some of the world's most pressing challenges.

With over 800 apprentices enrolled in various fields including engineering, business, health and social care, and construction, the college plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of professionals.
