The Ivy unveils plans for new Chester restaurant
By Dherran Titherington 6th Mar 2026
The Ivy has submitted plans for a new restaurant in Chester's former All Bar One.
The high-end UK restaurant chain, celebrated for its classic British menu and stylish interiors, has submitted plans for a new restaurant on Newgate Street.
Marking the chain's third North West location, with existing restaurants in Manchester's Spinningfields and Liverpool's Castle Street, the venue was previously home to All Bar One at Newgate House - which closed in October 2025.
The proposals, submitted by Troia Restaurants over three separate planning applications, include opening hours from 8am - 11pm, a revamped timber shopfront with double doors and diamond-pattern glazing, new illuminated signage with brass elements, a small low-profile bin store, and a raised outdoor seating area.
Floorplans prepared by Pumphouse Designs show planned seating for 118 people on the ground floor, including nine at a wrap-around bar.
Its outdoor space would feature fixed jumbo umbrellas with heaters, tables, chairs, benches, planters, and a waiter station - providing up to 40 alfresco dining covers.
Situated on the corner of Newgate Street and Pepper Street, the new restaurant would also feature The Ivy's signature stained-glass double doors and an illuminated sign to mark the venue.
News of The Ivy's Chester venue first emerged last November with a job advertisement for a general manager was listed - confirming the brand's intention to launch in 2026.
Several other vacancies are also currently listed on its website for the Chester site.
