VJ Day 80th anniversary - Chester Town Hall Square - Friday 15 August

There will be a musical performance at Chester Town Hall Square on Friday, to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day).
The programme of events will start at 11:55am at Chester Cathedral gardens on Friday 15 August, where there will be an opportunity to remember those who served and played their part in the Second World War.
Later that evening at 8.30pm at Chester Town Hall Square, the Lord Mayor will light Chester's Beacon of Peace.
The evening will include music led by Matt Baker and provide another opportunity to come together to look forward to a more peaceful future.

Chester Pride - Saturday 16 August

Chester Pride is returning to Castle Square this weekend for a day of music, empowerment and fun.
A description for the event reads: "The final countdown is on to Chester pride 2025, make sure you purchase your tickets via our website before the big day and save up to £5.
"It's going to be hot, so be prepared. We have sun cream and free water across the site with extra shaded areas. We advise not to bring dogs unless absolutely necessary.
"All lineups are on our social media pages. Please check on the day for up to date information."

Afterglow - Chester Zoo - Friday 15 August

A unique event which sees Chester Zoo transformed after hours for 'Afterglow' ends this Sunday 17 August.
A description for the event reads: "Afterglow will offer guests the unique chance to encounter some of the world's most endangered species during golden hour, which, for many animals, is one of their most active periods.
"Life-sized prehistoric dinosaur puppets will roam the zoo with full theatrical performances and interactive meet-and-greets throughout each evening.
"Other new additions this year include a silent disco, giant inflatables, a Master Lego Builder experience, and an array of roaming performers – including acrobats, jugglers and stilt walkers.
"Zoo members go free but must pre-book in advance."
