Chester will welcome thousands of athletes and spectators this weekend for the 16th MBNA Chester Marathon, the UK's fifth-largest marathon.

Taking place on Sunday 11 October, the event will kick off at 9am from Chester Racecourse, guiding participants through the city centre and across the border into the North Wales countryside before concluding at the Little Roodee finish village.

This year's official race charity is Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

Due to the size and scale of the event, roads will be incredibly busy in and around the city on race day, so residents and visitors are advised to anticipate significant traffic diversions throughout the day.

The Grosvenor Museum is currently hosting an award-winning exhibition celebrating the world's most awful record covers.

Held in gallery two, the temporary exhibition is a collection of "dreadful" record sleeves that makes people "giggle, guffaw and double up laughing everywhere it goes".

Running until early next year, visitors can explore Steve Goldman's extensive range of "unintentionally funny" record covers, vote for their three favourites, and listen to some tracks from the albums.

Since the exhibition began touring the country in 2021, it has featured on BBC's Have I Got News For You, BBC Radio 4's Front Row, BBC Breakfast, The Guardian, Metro and the "i" newspaper.

Grosvenor Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10.30am to 5pm, and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Entry is free but donations are welcome.
