The Story of the Christmas with Marc Burrows - Thursday 6 November - Books on the Walls

Books on the Walls is hosting award-winning author and comedian Marc Burrows for a celebration of a uniquely British tradition.
Kicking off at 6pm, the free event explores the questions around Christmas.
A description for the event reads: "The Christmas number one. Where did it come from? Why are we the only country in the whole world that actually cares about it? And can it survive in 2025?
"Burrows, fresh from a critically lauded run at the Edinburgh Fringe with his show 'The Britpop Hour', celebrates the publication of his new book, The Story of The Christmas No.1: Mistletoe & Vinyl, though McNidder & Grace, with a specially-written stand-up talk, complete with songs, covering everything from Bing to Blobby, from Slade to Sausage Rolls, from feeding the world to Killing In The Name. It's Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiiistmaaaaaaaaaaaas!"

Filthy Chester Tour - Friday 7 November

Live History will host its 'Filthy Chester Tour' this Friday, kicking off at 5:30pm.
A description for the event reads: "Hear about historical court cases that would make people blush, consider how certain lost buildings played host to disasters - or learn Shakespearean slang that will get you laid.
"This is a tour for those with a dark sense of humour, who relish uncomfortably taboo tales of a more 'adult nature' - grotesque, sexy and obscene language, complete with images of lost local buildings and a bag of naughty replicas.
"Not suitable for those with a sensitive disposition due to taboo stories and contextual swearing. Strictly 18 years and over."
Tickets can also be pre-booked online here.

Chester's largest artisan market returns to the city this Saturday, featuring a range of food, drink, coffee and artisan traders and food vendors.
