Free choir concert - City Road Presbyterian Church - Thursday 9 October

A youth choir from Scotland and Germany are performing at City Road Presbyterian Church this evening.

A description for the free event reads: "Today is the day. Please come along to listen to our concert this evening on Chester!

"We would love to have some audience members to sing for after a week of working hard on our music."

No pre-booking is required, simply turn up for a 7.30pm start. The event will take place at City Road Church, City road, Chester, CH1 3AE.

Free community yoga class - Soul Space Chester - Friday 10 October

Soul Space Chester, a yoga studio based in the city, offers a free community class each week called 'Soul Karma'.

A description for the event reads: "Join us each week for Soul Karma, our free community class — a gift of yoga open to everyone, no matter your experience.

"This class is offered freely, with love and gratitude by new teachers who want to practice teaching.If you're in a position to do so, we welcome donations — either a small monetary contribution or an item for the local food bank.

"Together, we can spread positive energy beyond the mat. Spaces are limited, so please book your place in advance."

The Grosvenor Museum is currently hosting a free exhibition from the British Museum all about the brutal history of gladiators.

A description for the event reads: "Step into the arena where gladiators once fought and died to thunderous crowds.

This major touring exhibition brings together rare Roman artefacts that reveal the brutal spectacle of gladiatorial combat in ancient Britain – including extraordinary finds from Chester's own amphitheatre, the largest in the country.

"From the enslaved fighters who became unlikely celebrities to the vendors selling food to eager crowds, Gladiators of Britain reveals the human stories behind the helmets."

Chester food & craft festival - Carriage Shed - Saturday 11 October

This Saturday at the Carriage Shed there will be a monthly festival showcasing the North West's finest makers.

A description for the event reads: "From 10:00am to 4:00pm, enjoy a FREE, family-friendly festival brimming with sunny vibes, artisan shopping, delicious food, live music, and a buzzing atmosphere.

"Hosted by The Trader Markets, this monthly festival showcases the North West's finest makers, offering everything from handmade crafts and unique homeware to beautiful jewellery and artwork.

"Food lovers will delight in the incredible selection of street food vendors, serving up irresistible dishes, all while enjoying live local music.

This Saturday evening, Circl8 Radio proudly brings together an electrifying lineup of music, including the dynamic Weeds from Leeds, Andy Peggs, Amos and 31 Altas.

Taking place at The Saddle, on Grosvenor Street, a description for the event reads: "On the decks, Milk Milk Lemonade will be soundtracking the night with deep cuts and eclectic selections, setting the perfect mood.

"Psychedelic visuals come courtesy of Richard Starbuck, while Dragons Are Real Music Services ensure the sonic experience is crisp and immersive.
