Open Air Theatre 'Pride and Prejudice' - Grosvenor Park - Friday 4 July

To mark the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, a production of Pride and Prejudice will return to the park this Friday (4 July).

A description for the event reads: "Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is a much-anticipated part of the summer in Chester.

"This summer, in the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, her most famous love story is brought to vibrant life once again at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre.  

"Adapted for stage by Deborah McAndrew and directed by Conrad Nelson, the Regency tale won acclaim from both critics and audiences when it first premiered in 2021.

"The Grosvenor Park festival site includes a tepee bar, seating areas, fresh wood-fired pizzas, barbecue, craft beers and frozen cocktails."

'An Evening Exploring the Life and Work of Trena Cox' - St James' Church, Chester - Friday 4 July

On Friday 4 July, St James' Church will host a talk about Chester-based stained glass artist, Trena Cox.

A description for the event reads: "St James' Church will host a social evening exploring the life and work of Chester based stained glass artist, Trena Cox.

"Led by Aleta Doran, Emerita Artist in Residence at Chester Cathedral, the event will start from 7pm at St James' Church, Ince.

"Tickets are priced at £7 each, including wine and light refreshments. You can get them from Simon Eardley at 07738 184101."

The Makers Market brings over 80 artisans to Exchange Square (Nub News)

Every first Saturday of the month The Makers Market brings over 80 artisans to Exchange Square, Chester.

Taking place from 10am - 4pm, a description for the event reads: "Chester, it's that time again!

"Your trader lineup is HERE and it's packed with incredible local talent — from delicious bakes to handmade treasures and everything in between!

"Come support your favourite small businesses, discover new finds, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the heart of Chester.

"The Makers Market brings together independent artisans, makers, performers and businesses to create brilliant, local community monthly markets."

Chester Festival of Ideas - Chester - 4-6 July

Featuring a range of diverse, inclusive and accessible events, Chester Festival of Ideas is back after its inaugural success in 2024.

Aiming to celebrate, entertain, inform and inspire, the festival will take place from 3 - 6 July 2025.

A description for the event reads: "Places can now be booked on the Festival of Ideas website, with events hosted at venues across Chester.

"This will include Chester Town Hall - as the festival hub, Storyhouse, the Grosvenor Museum, Chester Cathedral, Chester Market, Chester Picturehouse and event spaces across the University of Chester.

"Attendees can enjoy speakers, discussion panels, theatre, pop-up exhibitions, interactive events, music, readings, guided walks and much more."
