An 'eclectic' jazz bar is set to open in Chester next weekend, with a focus on classic cocktails and international jazz.

Set to open its doors next Friday 7 November, 'The Stones' can be found next to South African restaurant, The Stixxs, which is under the same ownership.

With a strong focus on live jazz and blues, alongside classic cocktails with a twist, a spokesperson for The Stones revealed to Nub News that at the core of its ethos is the celebration and enjoyment of the music genre.

They said: "We want to take you to another dimension of just cool, beautiful jazz.

"This is not just Afro jazz, it's international jazz too. We want something that, culturally, will change and help make jazz even better, by having a proper jazz bar that is dedicated to just jazz and blues."

With warm lighting throughout and a unique design, it will also offer various bar snacks such as charcuterie, alongside the option for fresh food from The Stixx next door.

The Stones' spokesperson added: "At the same time, there'll be a bit of buzz on a Friday night; the place will be eclectic.

"The beauty about how we've designed this is that I want you to feel like you could be anywhere in the world, but you're in Chester, under the rail arches, having a great time. 

"Whether it be in the summer, in the winter, it wouldn't matter because you're going to feel warm."

Open Thursday to Sunday, the venue will suit a range of customers, such as couples, groups of friends, or those simply looking to listen to some live piano in the middle of the day. The venue is also available for hire.

Reflecting on the name of the new bar, the spokesperson revealed a theme of resilience, as they said: "Sticks and stones don't break my bones.

"The Stixxs has been with us for the last eight or so months, and it's obviously in an area where everyone thought it would never work.

"We are still very young and we are building. So we felt that unbreakable spirit, that unbreakable verse that says sticks and stones don't break my bones is what motivates us to have these two venues and also to be able to drive them forward."
