Police were called to Brio Northgate on Wednesday evening after a teenager reported a phone camera being pointed into her changing room cubicle.

At around 6.40pm on 24 June, the 16-year-old was using a cubicle in the gym's changing rooms when she reportedly noticed a phone being directed towards her from a neighbouring cubicle.

Officers attended the leisure centre on Victoria Road at approximately 7.35pm, after the incident was reported.

In a post on social media, the victim's mother said it was her daughter's first visit to the gym since its refurbishment.

"She was so shocked and scared that she quickly got changed and ran straight to reception and found the deputy manager to report," she said. "She is absolutely horrified and shaken and won't ever be returning to Northgate which is such a shame."

She added a warning to other parents and gym users, urging vigilance in changing room areas.

"Please be vigilant in these changing rooms! If your child/teen was there last night at this time, please ask them if they know anything about this!"

Cheshire Police has confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
