Police are appealing for witnesses after a 70-year-old woman died following a serious road traffic collision in Chester.

On Friday 10 July at 11.33pm, police were called to Parkgate Road, at the junction with Welsh Road, following reports of a crash involving a grey Cupra Born and a black Kia Sportage.

The woman, who was a passenger in the Kia, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Kia and two other passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital. A fourth passenger sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Cupra was not injured.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision, and no arrests have been made.

Inspector Andrew Dennison said: "Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or has any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation to get in touch with us.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly died."
