Plans submitted for up to 200 new homes near Chester

Plans for up to 200 new homes on the edge of Chester have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Developer Bloor Homes is looking to develop the green belt land which sits to the south of Whitchurch Road in Christleton.
With the application stating it wants to put people "at the heart of its design", the development would introduce a potential 200 new homes to the area.
Offering a range of plots, from starter homes up to family homes, it states that up to 45% of the dwellings will be labelled "new affordable homes".

There will be a strong emphasis on "walkability and recreation", by creating an accessible landscape with public open spaces.
The development would feature a mix of public facilities, whilst seeking to enhance the site's "natural character", with green corridors, ponds and native planting throughout the development.
There is no public access into the site currently so a new road entrance would be needed.
In a nod to Chester's rich historical identity, the application outlines how its design will also "complement its context", whilst "embracing contemporary living".
The application said: "Abbots Well presents a uniquely-sustainable and accessible location close to the heart of Chester.
"Abbots Well is envisioned as a vibrant, sustainable, and well-connected community, creating a welcoming gateway to Chester that seamlessly integrates with the character of Great Boughton and Christleton.
"Strategically positioned beside the A55, with access via Whitchurch Road, Abbots Well promotes sustainable connectivity to Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, and the stunning landscapes of Wales, including the Clwydian & Dee Valley National Landscape."
While the site sits in the green belt, Bloor said the location is "sustainable" and will encourage younger families to stay in the area.
The application continued: "The masterplan will deliver a new neighbourhood for Christleton and Great Boughton together, which comprises a variety of tenures, types and sizes of much needed homes - in line with the specific needs of the area and with up to 45% of homes being affordable.

"The addition of new housing in the area will support the vibrancy of the village, encouraging younger families to stay living in the local area.
"A range of sustainable travel measures are proposed within the site, including a mobility hub (comprising electric bike hire, Amazon delivery lockers and fitness area), a electric mini bus charger and stop, improvements to Whitchurch Road and the provision of cycle infrastructure."
A unique feature of the proposals is Abbots Well Park, coined as a central open space which integrates "heritage, ecology, and recreation".
The landscape proposal seeks to revitalise Abbots Well, positioning it as a "central feature".
It said: "The historic Abbots Well becomes a celebrated focal point, its setting enhanced and made accessible for the community.
"A thoughtfully designed parkland landscape will celebrate this heritage, integrating signage and wayfinding to offer engaging and informative routes.
"This approach ensures the well remains an integral part of the area, strengthening its connection to the community and enriching the local environment."
