Lache Community Centre launches new café this week

Lache Community Centre will celebrate the opening of its brand new café at an open day on Thursday (15 May).
Marking the completion of the first phase of the centre's redevelopment, the launch day will run from 1.30pm to 4pm.
The first phase of building improvements include a modernised function room, new kitchen and lobby area - alongside installing CCTV and new energy saving technologies.
Cllr Nathan Pardoe said: "The first phase of the Lache Community Centre refurbishment is complete and has turned a space that was already loved and cherished by Lache residents into something even better.

"It's the same welcoming and friendly space, remaining flexible in its use, but is now fit for the future and includes a new café - something that residents were particularly keen to see."
Lache Community centre is a hub to many services - from tea dances, Balmoral Morris dancers and Karate, mental health counselling, gardening club, computer club and friendly coffee mornings.
It is also a venue that many hire for family events.
The refurbishment grew from the need to make space more flexible as well as bringing up to modern standards.
Cllr Pardoe added: "I hope there's a good turnout on the Open Day, it's the first chance for residents to see the improved space, sample the new café menu and see the progress that has been made.

"Thanks to all the residents and groups who shaped the plans, and to the Council staff, contractors and partners who turned the community vision into reality."
The cafe will initially be open Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 4pm.
The refurbishment is one of four projects on the Lache Action Plan, endorsed by the council in November 2023.
Other projects included the new children's play area, opened last July and the re-development of the Backies as a green- space for wildlife and for residents to enjoy.
