A new bar could replace a former bridal boutique on Northgate Street.

Plans to convert 64 Northgate Street into a "small bar", with a capacity of "approximately 30 to 35 people" have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

If approved, the new bar, listed as 'Wonky Tusk', would operate from 7am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday, closing an hour later on Friday and Saturday.

Licensee Desmond Richard Piercy also indicated plans to apply for a pavement license, citing the use of outdoor seating for other similar businesses on Northgate Street.

The venue was formerly home to My Funny Valentine Bridal, which officially closed its doors on Tuesday (2 June).

The closure of the boutique was initially announced in March by owner Hanni Frankland-Roberts, who, at the time, cited growing family responsibilities.

Frankland-Roberts, a former solicitor who opened the business in 2021, said running the shop had been "truly magical" and a "privilege".

She added: "Running a business on your own whilst raising two very young children has been the biggest juggle, and if I'm honest, a sacrifice at times.

"As proud as I am of what we've built, I know it's now time to give my energy fully to my number one priority.

"Like the fabulous women I have met along the MFV journey, I want to raise them to know they are strong, kind, beautiful & capable of achieving all of their dreams."
