Multi-agency search under way in Chester after reports of person in water

A multi-agency search operation is under way in Chester following reports of a person entering the River Dee late on Wednesday night.
At around 11.15pm on Wednesday 27 May, police were called to reports of a person who had been seen on the Grosvenor Bridge and was believed to have entered the River Dee.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard and RNLI teams joined police at the scene. Fire engines from Chester, Powey Lane, Tarporley, Knutsford and Penketh were also deployed, alongside a crew from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Specialist units, including the rescue boat from Powey Lane, the Rapid Response Rescue Unit from Knutsford and Chester's aerial ladder platform, were deployed.
Search efforts have included rafts, an RNLI lifeboat and underwater camera equipment.
The operation remains ongoing today (28 May), with emergency crews still at the scene. Enquiries are continuing.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 11.15pm on Wednesday 27 May, police were called to reports of a person who had been seen on the Grosvenor Bridge, Chester, and was believed to have entered the River Dee.
"Officers attended and made a search of the area, along with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard.
"Enquiries remain ongoing today, Thursday 28 May, assisted by the Underwater Search Team and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service."
