A major Spanish high-street fashion brand is opening its doors in Chester city centre tomorrow.

MANGO will open its doors at Eastgate Square, formerly known as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, on Wednesday 23 September.

With doors opening at 9am, the first 50 customers to spend £50 or more will be able to take home a complimentary MANGO Home candle.

The store replaces the shopping centre's former H&M clothing store, which closed its doors for good in 2021.

At the time, the clothing retailer said the city centre closure was part of its "long-term strategy to ensure we are offering our customers the best possible shopping experience in the right locations".

Following the departure of H&M, the vacant retail unit was repurposed as a cultural hub by the arts charity Chester Visual Arts (CVA).

The organisation transformed the empty commercial space into a dynamic, multi-part gallery residency that attracted over 20,000 visitors.

The run began with an immersive exhibition by acclaimed visual artist Simon Roberts, followed by three subsequent major exhibitions – Re-Store, ReMark, and RePrint – which showcased regional painters, printmakers, and community recovery arts before the residency concluded.
