A man has been arrested after a woman died at a home on Canal Street yesterday afternoon (20 July).

At 12.21pm on Sunday 20 July, police were called to a address on Canal Street, Chester, due to concerns for the welfare of a woman.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene and sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, a 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead. 

A 57-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and remains in police custody at this time.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident.

"A scene is currently in place and Canal Street is closed as officers conduct enquiries into the full circumstances."
